Buckle up for a wild ride with this intriguing drama! Initially cautious due to the unpredictable nature of TVB dramas, I was pleasantly surprised by how this series captivated me from start to finish.
Lead by the talented Vincent Wong, who shines as Song Sai Kit, a witty and sometimes mischievous lawyer, the show explores his journey to becoming known as the legendary "King of Lawyers." Alongside him is the lovable Lam Chi Chung, who not only portrays a key ally but also directs the drama,...infusing it with subtle nods to the iconic Stephen Chow.
The chemistry between Vincent and his wife, played by Elaine Yiu, adds depth to the storyline, with her portrayal of a martial arts-savvy yet naive character. The unfolding of unexpected events keeps the audience entertained, especially when the characters find themselves in hilarious situations, including some light-hearted cross-dressing escapades.
One standout moment that compelled me to share this review was a clever meta joke involving the characters' names, a nod that only true TVB fans would appreciate. However, the drama is not without its flaws, particularly in the portrayal of a certain character's one-dimensional anger and the occasional jarring dubbing moments.
As the series nears its end, the suspense heightens, leading to a complex and high-stakes final case that showcases the cast's dramatic acting abilities. While the resolution of some storylines may leave viewers with mixed emotions, the overall experience of the drama remains engaging and worth the watch.
Despite some missteps in handling sensitive topics and rushed storytelling, the series retains its appeal, leaving room for potential improvement in future seasons. With a cliffhanger ending that hints at more to come, fans can only hope for a second season that delves deeper into the characters' journeys and addresses complex themes with greater depth and nuance.
