Summary:

In the gripping narrative of this series, we follow the life of a perceptive individual who, since his youth, has aspired to reach the pinnacle of detective work. Rescued by a compassionate soul in his formative years, this individual dedicated his life to mastering the art of sleuthing. His tenacity and training bear fruit when he triumphantly cracks a perplexing puzzle on his first day on the job.

However, his triumph is not universally celebrated. His immediate supervisor, a man marked by both his position and his envy, fails to share his subordinate's joy. In a twist of professional jealousy, he assigns the young detective on a peril-fraught mission to apprehend a notorious serial killer, knowing full well the risks involved.

The tale grows more complex when our detective crosses paths with a mysterious and capable helper, who, despite being from the adversary's camp, becomes his unwitting guardian angel, saving him from danger repeatedly. Plagued by visions that liken him to the tragic character Liang Shan Bo from an ancient romance, he becomes entranced by the notion that his relationship with his savior is but a contemporary echo of that timeless sorrowful love story.

As if ripped from the pages of lore, the sudden emergence of a merchant's daughter only adds to the detective's spiraling fantasies.
