Having been a devoted reader of The Great Ruler manga, I approached its TV adaptation with curiosity but tempered expectations. Much to my surprise, the storyline went beyond my wildest imaginations, incorporating changes that blew me away. The series' impeccable attention to detail in crafting the environment and setting added an extra layer of immersion.

One of the standout elements of the show was the electrifying romance between Mu Chen and Luo Li. Their chemistry sizzled onscreen, leaving viewers eagerly anticipating each interaction. What impressed...

me most was how the romance was skillfully balanced, allowing the development of the side characters to shine without being overshadowed.

While the pacing started off slow, patiently introducing the various characters, once the stage was fully set, the storyline escalated into a heart-pounding roller coaster ride that left me glued to my screen. The thrill was so immersive that I found myself devouring episode after episode within a matter of days.

In summary, my love for The Great Ruler manga found a fitting counterpart in the drama adaptation. The series adeptly captured the essence of the original story while adding its own captivating twists and turns.

Spoiler alert: The following review contains minor spoilers.

Save your valuable time. As someone who appreciates a good drama, this particular series left much to be desired. Despite its promising premise (despite the less-than-stellar acting), the plot gradually unraveled into a confusing and illogical mess. How it managed to garner high rankings remains a perplexing mystery. The male lead's casting was a misstep; a more charismatic actor could have greatly improved the overall experience. The mere thought of the final few episodes filled me with...

apprehension. Instead of needlessly dragging on, this drama should have gracefully concluded at an earlier point. The erratic shifts between storylines and characters, as pointed out by other reviewers, only added to the frustration.

    Caution: Potential spoilers ahead!

This drama is an absolute disappointment from beginning to end. I strongly advise against wasting your time on this messy and exhausting piece. The plot is outrageously ridiculous, with a lack of structure and substance. I found myself skipping scenes and fast-forwarding through episodes just to get through it. The opening sequences were the only commendable aspect, but unfortunately, the rest of the CGI and design fell short, lacking impact and authenticity.

The editing is extremely jumpy, leaving loose ends and abruptly transitioning...

from one scenario to another without proper resolution. The power scaling is completely messed up, with the weak main character miraculously defeating powerful enemies while being defeated by weak side characters. It's absurd and makes no sense. Even the fight scenes are underwhelming, resembling child's play rather than epic battles.

The focus on making the male lead overly powerful sacrifices the potential of other great characters and causes the story to lose its essence. Speaking of characters, the male roles in this drama are exasperatingly annoying and useless. The main character, Mu Chen, is a liability and constantly needs saving due to his obliviousness and immaturity. It's hard to believe he can save anyone, let alone defeat the most powerful enemy. Mu Bai is easily influenced and provoked, while Qing Shan adds nothing to the story but illogical and irritating remarks.

The episodes and beyond are the most unbearable, lacking in various areas and patched together to make some semblance of sense. The acting of the main leads is underdeveloped, making their performances unconvincing and awkward, as they still come across as elementary kids playing. The saving grace of this drama is the performance of the supporting adult actors.

The background music fails to make a lasting impression, as my frustrations and disappointments overshadowed any positives in these sequences. Overall, this drama does not deserve to be watched, and I fail to understand how people give it a high rating. It is a massive letdown that left me feeling cheated of my precious time.

The protagonist lacks depth, with limited range in his physicality, expressions, and voice. The musical accompaniment falls flat, failing to enhance the overall ambiance. The abrupt shifts between scenes disrupt the narrative flow, hindering the cohesive build-up of tension and resolution. It is disheartening as the story itself is captivating and immersive, complemented by stunning natural landscapes and impressive CGI. Additionally, a handful of actors and actresses deliver commendable performances....

I had mixed feelings about this series. On one hand, it had elements reminiscent of a certain popular wizarding franchise, but on the other hand, it gave off vibes similar to a show about supernaturally gifted individuals. The storyline revolved around a group of young people who come together to explore and harness their unique talents. The series was filled with adventure and showcased some impressive fight scenes, complemented by excellent graphics.

The cast members all delivered outstanding performances, and their costumes were well-suited to...

the setting. The scenery was realistic and added to the overall authenticity. While I didn't pay much attention to the music, the fact that it didn't bother me suggests that it was decent. The relationships between the characters were portrayed as unique and brotherly, and even in moments of betrayal, the characters stayed true to themselves.

Although the chemistry between the two leads was lacking, their individual acting was commendable. However, it was the supporting couple who stole the show with their chemistry and captivating storyline, provoking a range of emotions.

From start to finish, the male lead remained consistent in his goals, allowing viewers to witness themes of loyalty, brotherhood, unity, and numerous villains. Karma played a significant role, sometimes lurking in the shadows until the most opportune moment. If you're seeking an entertaining and enjoyable series, particularly if you're a fan of superheroes and superpowers, this is one to consider.

The most enjoyable aspect of the series was witnessing the character development of the male lead. Starting with limited abilities, he matured, learned, and transformed into an impressive and self-assured individual through various trials and his own temperament. It was truly exciting to witness his growth.

However, my main disappointment with this series was its ending. It could have been so much better if not for the strange choice of revealing a new cast member's face in the final episode.
