Summary:

Chen Hsiang is by nature fond of fighting and trouble-making, but after meeting Originator of Li Boxing, Li Yu-shan and Chin Pei, he cultivates an aptitude for martial arts and maker remarkable progress, He competes with Yi Chen (Tai Chi-wei) in wooing famous courtesan Hsu Hsiao Hsuan (Wong Han-shou) and repeatedly challenges him to duels. But Hsiao Hsuan loves Yi Chen only. Originator of Tsai boxing Tsai Fu and Hsiao Hsuan combing to assassinate Yi Kang to avenge a family grudge, but fails. Yu Shan comes to their rescue and the three become close friends. When Yi Chen discovers the feud between his lover and his father, the two lovers are torn between love and hate. Yu-shan is subsequently trapped and killed. Chan Hsiang nearly loses his life as well, but is rescued by Annie Cheng (Lai Mei-han). Annie is in love with Chen Hsiang, but the latter can’t forget Hsiao Hsuan. Finally, Chen dedicates himself to learning martial arts from Tsai Fu in Laofoshan, and eventually creates his own Tsai-LI-Fu boxing. Then chance gets Chen Hsiang involved in Lin Tse-hsu’s anti-opium and San Yuan Society’s Civilian Self-Defence activities. All this and his four-angle love affairs bring the story to one climax after another. The Rise of Kung Fu Master, a story about the Originator of the Tsai-LI-Fu boxing, is based on historical facts in the late part of the Ching reign.
