Summary:

Once a deity serving under a celestial culinary master, a certain Fan Tung finds himself at odds with a powerful goddess after a gluttonous mishap, leading to his imprisonment within a winter melon for centuries. Fortune shifts when a couple stumbles upon him, inadvertently setting him free. Complications arise when he is squashed by a mortal's brother, leading to his spirit possessing the man's body and effectively erasing his divine knowledge.

As he begins to integrate into the mortal family's life, the wife grows skeptical of the new, odd behavior of her brother-in-law, going to great lengths to reveal the truth. Stranded on Earth after failing to return to the celestial realm, Tung must rely on the assistance of a handful of miniature deities to navigate his new human existence; these beings had absorbed his lost instincts when he was freed from his melon prison. Through this, he learns about the complexities of human emotions and life.

The delicate balance of their lives is further disrupted when a prodigal wife makes an unexpected comeback, creating chaos that leads to tragedy—spurring Tung to take desperate measures by venturing into the afterlife in pursuit of redemption and restoration.
