  Okay, so listen up. I just finished watching this fantasy drama that had so much potential, but man, did it disappoint. Spoiler alert! This review might spill some details. The show started off with a really interesting concept - a secret princess and a wolf boy who turned into this killing machine. They were lovers, but then fate and some evil higher power messed things up, turning them into enemies. Their relationship was cursed, you know? So, will their love conquer all? Nah, it won't....

  This drama had a bunch of recycled tropes and predictable storylines as it went on. The characters lost their freshness and became walking clichés. I couldn't help but roll my eyes constantly! But hey, I stuck around for a few storylines I liked and to see if the ending had any redeeming qualities. Spoiler alert again: it didn't. The ending was just the final nail in the coffin.
  
  Now, let's talk about the good stuff, because it's not all bad. The production quality was higher-than-average, with great sets and costumes. The CGI wasn't mind-blowing, but it was decent considering the production. The battle sequences were well done too. And the story, well, it had its moments. There were some beautiful scenes, emotional parts, and some good character moments. The first few episodes were good and didn't drag on too much. Ji Chong's arc was mostly good - he was a relatable character who brought some much-needed normalcy and care to the story. The moments between him and the leading lady were enjoyable. Honestly, he was the breath of fresh air amidst the mess.
  
  Now, let's dive into the bad stuff. I had major issues with the two main leads and their dynamic. Look, I get it, we used to dig those overbearing and brooding male leads, but it's time to move on. Unfortunately, this drama didn't get the memo. The male lead constantly humiliated, lied to, and physically hurt the female lead under the excuse of making her stronger. It was cringey and uncomfortable to watch. And the worst part? She never had a chance to strike back. He always overpowered and outsmarted her, even when they were leading opposing armies. It was like she was a child in his eyes, always needing his protection. And of course, in the end, they made up because, you know, love conquers all. Ugh!
  
  The female lead, on the other hand, felt like a mere plot device. She had so little agency, just getting tossed around from one role to another in service to the story and the male lead's manpain. She couldn't even get her own revenge. Nope, it was the male lead who took care of everything and decided to sacrifice himself for her vengeance. And the ending they gave her? Let's just say it was eye-roll worthy. She only existed to cater to the male lead's manpain until the very end.
  
  The acting, well, it's a mixed bag. The actors did their best with what they were given, but the script didn't leave much room for character depth. It put them into too many repetitive and tropey situations. Xiao Zhan had a bit more freedom to showcase his range, and Li Qin did a good job too. But Darren Wang, oh boy, he could have made his character less wooden if the script and direction allowed for more humanity. But hey, it's not all his fault.
  
  So here's the bottom line: If you're a fan of any of the actors and just want to see them on screen, then maybe you'll find something to enjoy in this drama. But if you're looking for a fantasy drama with a compelling story and well-written characters exploring love, friendship, and revenge, then I'm sorry, but "The Wolf" is not it.
