  I was initially skeptical about this series, expecting it to be dull due to the lack of romantic elements. However, I was pleasantly surprised by its engaging storyline that kept me hooked all night. Unlike the typical drama tropes we often see, this series offered a refreshing and unique narrative that defied my expectations. While I thoroughly enjoyed the show overall, I must admit that the ending left me feeling frustrated. I sincerely hope there will be a follow-up season to explore how the characters...

  So, diving into this series... The storyline was solid, but it felt somewhat predictable from the get-go, especially after glancing at the summary. Admittedly, I fast-forwarded through scenes sans the main characters and still managed to follow the narrative without much confusion. There weren't many surprises along the way; in fact, the plot developments could be foreseen just by watching the teaser snippets for future episodes. The protagonist's quest to find his grandfather fell short, with minimal screen time for the grandpa. Disappointing, to say...

  The cast was largely composed of lesser-known actors, who, though relatively new, delivered earnest performances. The male lead's debut performance was commendable, although there were moments of awkwardness in his interactions with the female lead, lacking the desired emotional depth. The female lead, in her second role, struggled to effectively convey her character's composed demeanor, resorting to repetitive expressions that didn't quite hit the mark. The second female lead, while captivating in her depiction of a ruthless character, seemed overshadowed by a lackluster wardrobe choice that aged her.
  
  As for the main antagonist, Gao Yu, his sporadic appearances and swift resolution left much to be desired in terms of a gripping showdown. The music, performed by the leads who are also singers, added a pleasant touch to the series with its soothing melodies.
  
  In terms of a potential rewatch, the series doesn't offer much allure. Without the draw of the main actors, it may struggle to captivate a casual viewer. This narrative bears resemblance to other hero's journey tales, like "Legend of Awakening," with a focus on the male lead's personal growth rather than a compelling romantic arc. If you're a fan of the cast, consider giving it a chance, but otherwise, it may not stand out in a crowded field.

  The series had a decent overall vibe. While the beginning didn't grab me, I stuck around mainly for Cheng Xiao, whom I adore and wanted to support. The costumes were a standout, adding a beautiful backdrop to the story. However, I couldn't quite get on board with some of the wigs, especially the purple one Cheng Xiao sported. Conversely, Fan Cheng Cheng rocked the yellow/blond wig quite well. The series aimed for a poignant ending, but the subpar acting failed to convey the intended emotion....

  The actors have potential, but honing their craft would elevate the viewing experience.

  This TV series is definitely a watch-worthy experience! The storyline was engaging and easy to follow, although I wish the romantic arc between the main characters had been more prominent. As for the ending, it left something to be desired, leading me to give it a respectable rating. While not without its flaws, the finale hinted at the possibility of a new season, which I eagerly anticipate.
