Summary:

Travel back to the early years of a boy named Tak Shun, whose world is turned upside down by the devastating loss of his father, King Yan. In the wake of this tragedy, Tak Shun finds himself engulfed in emotional turmoil, losing interest in his passions and even the memory of his father. His caring mother, Mei Sheung, and supportive uncle, Tim Sing, take it upon themselves to shield him from the pain, carefully avoiding any mention of his father's passing.

As destiny would have it, Tak Shun's path crosses with that of Cho Yee, a lively and observant girl whose father owns a quaint second-hand shop. Cho Yee is intrigued by Tak Shun's unique ability to sense the echoes and stories lingering within the old objects in the shop. Together, they become an unlikely duo, delving into the pasts of various items, unraveling mysteries, and bringing solace to those around them, who are burdened by their own concerns.

In a twist of fate, one peculiar item from the second-hand store guides Tak Shun to the long-hidden truths about his father's demise. This revelation forces him to confront the long-buried anguish of his past, reopening old wounds in a quest for closure and understanding.

This series provides a satisfying blend of the supernatural seamlessly intertwined with the fabric of reality, positioning it as a solid entry in its genre, though perhaps not reaching the soaring heights of other iconic counterparts within the pantheon of TVB's supernatural offerings. Perhaps its Achilles' heel lies in an ending which arguably overextends itself, straying slightly into the realm of the improbable.

Despite this, the narrative construction and the smaller tales that nestle within the tapestry of the overarching enigma remain engaging. It's commendable how...

the series interweaves morality, a smattering of urban myths, and Asian folklore without it feeling contrived, integrating these elements organically into the central storyline.

While one might argue that the series' mystery element follows a linear, easy-to-track progression lacking the sharp turns and twists of a labyrinthine whodunit, there's a certain charm in witnessing how the puzzle is pieced together through a straightforward trajectory.

The chemistry between the two principals adds a sturdy backbone to the tale — with the female lead coming across as somewhat rigid, yet the male lead compensates, especially as the narrative concludes and his character confronts personal tribulations with a commendable performance.

The ensemble of supporting characters deserves a nod, providing a robust foundation for the story. Musically, the score does not intrude upon the narrative, ensuring an adequate if not particularly indelible accompaniment.

In essence, this series stands as an enjoyable viewing experience, offering a commendable portrayal of supernatural elements grounded in a realistic setting.
